Member Spotlight: Mint City Collective- Pride of the Queen City

Mint City Collective, Charlotte FC: MLS
Mint City Collective, Charlotte FC: MLS

Founded in 2019, Mint City Collective has quickly become a cornerstone of

Charlotte FC’s supporter culture. Their name and mission reflect a deep

connection to Charlotte’s history and a passion for building a vibrant,

inclusive soccer community. We caught up with MCC to learn more about

their story, matchday traditions, and how they stay engaged year-round.

ISC: What’s the story behind the name of your group, and when was it

founded?

MCC: Mint City Collective was founded in 2019, and our name is inspired

by Charlotte’s history of being the site of the first gold rush, and the first

U.S. mint in the South.

ISC: Describe your matchday setup – where do you gather, and what’s the

vibe like?

MCC: All of our weekend gamedays start at our tailgate lot, which we share

with all of the groups that are part of CLTFC’s gameday. We use this time to

highlight local beverage and food partners, as well as foster community and

welcome new members into the fold. Different musical genres are

highlighted, and we spend the time hyping each other up for the upcoming

game.

ISC: What kind of outreach or community involvement does your group do?

MCC: Our biggest fundraiser each year has benefitted the Leukemia &

Lymphoma Society. We’ve also partnered with Queen City Royals and their

Prideraiser efforts to benefit Time Out Youth, our local LGBTQ+ youth

outreach program. This year, we’ve added a secondary volunteer lead to

help us locate even more volunteer opportunities in the Charlotte area.

ISC: How do you keep members engaged during the off-season?

MCC: During the off-season, we focus on our membership and community

by offering volunteer and outreach opportunities, social events (sometimes

centered around other soccer leagues our members support), and our

biannual formal. It’s a great way to stay connected and keep the momentum

going year-round.

ISC: Anything else you’d like to share with the broader supporters’

community?

MCC: We’re proud to be part of a growing soccer culture in Charlotte that

values community just as much as the game itself. Whether you’re a lifelong

supporter or new to the sport, there’s a place for you here.

From tailgate traditions to meaningful community outreach, Mint City

Collective continues to build something special in the Queen City. Their

story reminds us that supporters' groups aren't just about what happens in

the stands, but what happens when people come together with a shared

purpose, on and off the pitch.
