The Independent Supporters Council expresses our support for the USLPA and calls for the USL to agree to a resolution that reflects the true value of the players.
As the collective voice of the fans who invest time, energy, and resources into the USL Championship, we are writing to express our full and unconditional support for our players as they continue their journey towards a Collective Bargaining Agreement and a possible strike. We understand that a strike is a tool of last resort, and the decision to walk away from the game they love is not one the players take lightly.
We recognize that the demands from the USLPA for professional standards are not just reasonable; they are essential for the health and future of the sport. A team is nothing without the athletes who play for it. While management provides the infrastructure, the players provide the heart, the skill, and the reason we tune in and show up week after week. To see them undervalued or unheard is a slight to the fans as well.
Our position is firm and as follows:
We support their absence: We would rather see an empty field today than a compromised future for these athletes.
We demand a fair resolution: We urge you to return to the bargaining table immediately with a proposal that reflects the true value these players bring to this organization.
Our loyalty remains with the players: Our passion for our clubs is rooted in the people on the roster, and we stand with them until a just agreement is reached.
