NWSL ACTS - Highlight on UICSL's Two Spirit Pow Wow

As a continuation of the NWSL’s Pride festivities, we’d like to highlight the work done by the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake (UICSL) in their commitment towards celebration and inclusiveness of the indigenous Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ community. The Bay Area American Indians Two-Spirits (BAAITS) describe the meaning of Two Spirits as follows: “In many of our cultures, some individuals possessed and manifested a balance of both feminine and masculine energies, making them inherently sacred people. ACTS NWSL Challenge Cup Fundraiser Update

To date, the ACTS NWSL Challenge Cup Fundraiser has raised over $7000 in committed pledges for the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake (UICSL). One of the many UICSL programs that will benefit from those donations is their Girls on the Run initiative. Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a nationwide program that aims to empower girls to recognize their self-worth and potential through lessons, discussions, activities, and of course running. The UICSL council of GOTR serves Native American girls in the Salt Lake City area. Girls are grouped according to grade – 3rd to 5th and 6th to 8th – which allows them to focus on issues that are specific to their age groups. GOTR follows a 10 week course curriculum

Statement Regarding MLS' Return To Play

The Independent Supporters Council and its member organizations stand firmly behind the players in this month’s tournament. While we all eagerly await the day that we can return to our home fields, we’re willing to wait as long as it takes for that return to play to be safely carried out. We have and will continue to support any players or teams that do not feel as though they can safely participate in the MLS is Back tournament, while at the same time we express our enthusiasm that professional soccer is returning to play.
